A DEPLETED Thames Valley Harriers side did enough to stay in line for promotion with fifth place in their UK Women's League match at Stevenage.

TVH were missing several of their regular points scorers through injury and illness, but battled through to stay second in the Division Two table behind Newham & Essex Beagles.

Rebekah Wiltshire came out of long jumping retirement to produce a leap of 5.21m, and she also filled a sprint berth alongside Amber Simukonda and Hayley-Jayne Cone.

The trio secured three third places and one fourth place between them, while Emma Grant recorded a personal best of two minutes 11 seconds to take second place in the 800m against a strong field.

Lisa da Silva triumphed in the 2,000m steeplechase and TVH were also boosted by the returns of Heather Timmins, in the 3,000m, and Ellisha Dee, who competed in hammer, discus and shot.

TVH's total of 160 points leaves them second in the league and they will secure promotion if they beat or finish within one place of City of Glasgow at the final match of the season in Coventry next month.
