Brondesbury take a point to stay in touch with the leaders
Brondesbury (1pt) 277-8 Eastcote (4) 249-6 BRONDESBURY were forced to settle for a point away to a stubborn Eastcote side after John Fosbraey's had declared on 277 in the 64th over.
Eascote put the visitors in to bat but rued their decision when openers Chris Paget and Will Vandespar quickly got the innings underway. They reached 72 before Vandespar was caught for 34 off Paul Metcalfe (2-92).
Paget (42) fell soon after when caught off David Goodchild (3-50) and Mark Turner was then bowled by Goodchild for a duck to leave them 77-3.
Joe Moore (87) took the tally past the century mark. Batting first with Tom Simpson who was trapped lbw for eight, he then formed partnerships with Ajay Sangha (23), Edward Bridgeman (31) and Byron Vermaak (40).
The visitors passed 250 for the loss of six wickets when Moore finally fell, caught by Tom Scollay off Goodchild with the score 258-7. Vermaak was then caught by Sachin Gulvady off Paul Metcalfe.
Glen Read only had the chance to add a single run before Fosbraey elected to declare at 277-8 in the 64th over.
Eastcote reached 61 when Toby Sharpe (2-49) bowled Tom Scollay (36). The home side added another 20 runs before Sharpe caught Simon Butler (7) off his own bowling.
Ajay Sangha removed the third wicket of Jivan Lotay (51) at 117 and David Goodchild (21) at 130-4.
Chris Paget (2-36) clean-bowled Rossington for 11 and then had Alan Coleman caught for 43.
Eastcote refused to give up and Gulvady (54not out) and Stefan Salem (13no) batted out the remaining overs to clinch a winning draw with their faster run rate.
